Happy 2012!
Here's to a year filled with happiness, healthiness, wealthiness and cake .
Yes , I used healthiness and cake in the same sentence =)
Last week I had to come up with a special smash cake for a 1st birthday. Her cake was pretty elaborate so just any old smash cake wouldn't do. I used this opportunity to try out my Wilton large cupcake pan, not to be confused with my wilton Giant cupcake pan . It's this one ;
I baked up the cupcake , leveled it, popped it out of the pan and had no idea what to do with it.
I decided to melt some of my Wilton white candy melts and coat the inside of the plastic that came with the pan.
I greased the plastic cavity and coated it well with white chocolate. Then I placed it in the freezer for about an hour to harden.
Once it was hardened, it popped right out of the plastic.
I coated the inside with some buttercream, this is much easier than trying to squeeze the frosted cake into the chocolate " wrapper" .
Next I trimmed the outside of the cupcake like you would peel an apple. This way the cupcake will fit into the chocolate " wrapper".
Set inside the chocolate and ice the top with buttercream icing.
Place the cupcake top on the base.
Then I covered the top with a coat of pink icing. Followed by a swirl made with the Wilton 1M tip.
** To finish it off I made a purple gumpaste butterfly for the top, that of course I forgot to take a photo of before I delivered it.
